Teacher – Social Science (Psychology) (Fall 2026) - Regular full-time or part-time

The college is seeking a full-time or part-time professor to teach in English or in French the following courses within our Social Science program for the Fall 2026 semester.

300-A10-FR Introduction aux sciences humaines
3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of availability (total 6 hours/ week).

300-A10-HR Becoming a Social Scientist
3 hours of teaching and 3 hours of availability (total 6 hours/ week).
Social science, or the scientific inquiry into the human condition, is complex, sophisticated, and multidisciplinary. This collaborative process requires academic literacy; retrieving, comprehending and communicating information about humans in a scientific way. Let’s become social scientists by learning to do what they do.

350-A10-HR Introduction to Psychology
3 hours of teaching x 2 sections and 6 hours of availability per week (total 12 hours/week).
Knowing how to understand ourselves and others requires us to first understand the basis for human behaviour. The study of psychology provides students with explanations of why people think and act the way that they do. In this course, students will have a general introduction to the discipline of psychology. Major topics include learning, memory, perception, consciousness, thought and language, and the biological dimensions of being human.

ROLE SUMMARY
In a general way, the professor's teaching load shall include: preparation of course outline; preparation of classes, labs and fieldwork; teaching classes, labs and fieldwork; adaptation; support and supervision of students; preparation, invigilation and correction of examinations; revision of corrections at the students’ request; participation in pedagogical days organized by the College; participation in departmental meetings and required activities. May also include departmental coordination; program committee coordination; special support and supervision activities; participation in program activities; program development; implementation and evaluation; and institutional development.
DUTIES

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Complete/Adapt a course Outline to explaining the level of effort and evaluation/teaching techniques to be used during the delivery of the course.
  • Adapt existing class materials if required.
  • Adapt existing lab materials if required.
  • Teach class material while maintaining control of classroom.
  • Supervise Labs (No Teaching Assistants (TAs).
  • Support students outside of class.
  • Correct and comment on all lab and exam material returned to students (as required).
  • Adapt pedagogical methods to the students needs.
  • Participate in College Pedagogical Days.
  • Participate in Department coordination meetings.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
  • Minimum of a Master's degree in Psychology or in another discipline related to the courses being taught.
  • Several years of teaching experience at the university or college level is preferred.
  • Must be bilingual in both French and English (written, spoken and comprehension).

  • Adapt to a variety of student needs and provide appropriate academic and career development support to students.
  • Must be able to teach in both French and English.
  • A working knowledge of French, oral and reading, would be an asset.

  • Apply theoretical concepts to current workplace needs and skill requirements.
  • Must be flexible as required by the department workloads.
  • Stay abreast of changes and new program requirements through regular professional development activities.
